Our Mission

We’re enabling adventures that enact lasting familial memories.

WildKind Closet is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization that diminishes societal barriers for outdoor families by providing low-cost, seasonal outdoor gear rentals for the summer.

Nature is free, but gear costs a lot.

 Our Vision

WildKind Closet is creating a world where any outdoor family will not be deterred due to lack of access of high-quality gear. Presently, that’s not our reality. Families and new parents are often discouraged from trying the “grander” adventures like camping or backpacking, but we see things differently. Want to take your newborn hiking? Great. Want to try dispersed camping with your six-month-old infant? Awesome. Considering a first-time family hike with all six of your children under the age of 10? Wonderful (and more power to you!)

WildKind Closet wants to support all families for all of their adventures—and we hope we have some gear to help you handle it.

Our Commitment

We are an inclusive organization dedicated to creating opportunities for all families to get outside. WildKind Closet prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion work in our efforts. We expect that those involved with our organization share these same values. Our leadership team works directly with our Diversity and Inclusion trainer to continue our growth and education on how our organization can help create a more equitable reality for families in the outdoor industry.

Our Values

WildKind Closet has four core values to our organization:

Parental Empowerment: We want to help parents feel confident about tackling outdoor adventures—big and small—with their children. Quality gear is a key element to this.

Kids in Nature: Spending time outside clearly illustrates an increase in mental and emotional wellness, as well as boosted self confidence. Unstructured play is the gold standard in cognitive development, so we aim to increase these opportunities for children.

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Due to a lack of access and historical barriers, many communities do not have access to high-quality gear. We strive to make the outdoors more inclusive for all families.

Environmental Sustainability: Used gear is cheaper, but it’s also better for the environment. By reusing the same items over and over again, we’re minimizing our footprint on the planet.
